William –Gulliver

William –Hey, Hey, Hey/ Gulliver –M2 MMR 0301 (1974 Italy)

This is fun, but what the hell is it? Right in the middle of the PFM, Goblin or Banco progressive miasma, Gulliver shines like a rallying call of hope. Although found on the flipside of an amiable near Fading Yellow (mild Giallo?) Italo ballad, Gulliver is where it’s at. Could this be the missing link between Prog, Bubblegum and Glam? The synths burp, William sings his little heart out and the driving beat underlines the hooky chants. No idea what this guy was on about or who he actually is. But it’s a charming and captivating number housed in an evocative sleeve. Per Favore –Let’s hear the facts!

OK, but apart from "Multo Bene" what is he on about? Who was he?

I really don't know! I also asked to Pierpaolo from Rave Up records but nothing...
Who are the autor and the producer of the song?

Robin Wills said...

Hey Hey Hey is by Vechioni/Ferilli arr. Detto Mariano
Gulliver is by Conz/Cacciapaglia

No closer to finding out who he was but Conz/Cacciapaglia were perhaps Rossella Conz and Ruby Cacciapaglia who sessioned for Franco Battiato (Fetus)...Please this is your country and history -your mission starts now!

Yes, and Vecchioni is Roberto Vecchioni who wrote Hey Hey Hey that was performed also by Celentano's wife Claudia Mori...
Maybe, William is Cacciapaglia who released an amazing cosmic/kraut records in 1975 called "Sonanze" produced by Franco Battiato.
Check the picture, he looks similar:

PS. thanks to Pierpaolo (Rave Up Recocrds)

A million to one I never heard this track before, but it sure sounds familiar; can't pin it though.

...On the background there's the movie poster of "L'ultima Casa a Sinistra", "The Last House on the Left"...well, the lyrics are pretty violent too, he talks about smash the jaw and burn the motorcycle to a guy that wants to steal his girfriend.
"Gulliver" is a Stanley Kubrick's Clockwork Orange quote.

wow...congratulations eagle-eye! One of my favourite movies...and the road leads to nowhere...(that line also comes up at the beginning of Cabin Fever...a cool hommage!) The lead in LHOTL David Hess wrote ALL SHOOK UP -yes the Elvis number. He also starred in Ruggero Deodato's House on the edge of the park an even sicker movie

Proudfoot Sound said...

...David Hess is also on Pasquale Festa Campanile's AUTOSTOP ROSSO SANGUE (Hitch-Hike) together with Franco Nero.
Another Italian sick and amazing movie.
I recommend it to you!

OK, done it. I have now purchased the triple box set of Last House, the Uncut House on the Edge of the Park and Hitch Hike...
Keep repeating, it's only a movie, only a movie, only a movie...

i think the record is a fake, who put the track on line? who owns a copy of it? why not showing the label(a very improbable one-mm2...) with credits and serial numbers?,the mistifyng work of neurotic rec collectors ,who had enough dough to spend to even create a tune, ripped off by som glam junk throwaway,i suspect a "Roman" origin...

Ha...fantastic. The mother of all conspiracy theories. Send me an email (via the profile page) and I will scan a label for you of the copy I own. What's next? somebody thinking it wasn't a plane hitting the Pentagon on 9/11...
BTW, a copy without sleeve sold on ebay a couple of months back.

Hi,
I would like this as single as well as it has drawn me in!

A copy from Italy is on Discogs at the moment:
https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/5426236?ev=rb
But for around £311.

My Italian language knowledge from what I can hear from the chorus:
"Alla Mia ragazza" my girlfriend "voglio molto bene" that I love very much
"tu non chi scherzare non ti conviene" you do not fool around with someone who does not suit you

Also in the verse there is a rhyme that ends with "faccia dell gallina" "a hen's face"
